Create Beautiful Twins Birth Announcements Yourself
Looking for birth announcements for your twins? It's easy to do them yourself! What you'll need: * Heavy-duty parchment or other high quality paper in the 8 1/2 x 11-inch size in your choice of colors. * Less heavy, but equally high-quality paper in a contrasting or coordinating color. * Matching or coordinating envelopes in the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch size. * About 27 to 30 inches of narrow but decorative and inexpensive cord or ribbon to use as a border for each twins birth announcement and another 10 inches of the same or coordinating cord or ribbon for making a bow. Optional: extra ribbon to surround babies' pictures inside the card. A total of about 40 inches is needed for each announcement and more if you’re planning to border the babies' photos. * Pictures of the babies to go with the twins birth announcements. * Good quality craft glue suitable for gluing fabric or ribbon to paper. To make the twins birth announcements: 1. Cut 1" off all sides of the less heavy paper for the inside of the birth announcement. Cut about 1/4" off all sides of the other, heavier paper. Be sure to adequately trim the heavier paper or the cards won’t fit in the envelopes. Center the 1" trimmed paper on the 1/4" trimmed blue paper and glue both together. 2. Fold in half the wide way to make a card that’s about 8 x 5 inches in size. Press securely on the fold to be sure the card stays closed. 3. Cut a 10" length of ribbon or cord and tie it into a bow, but try to keep it fairly flat so the announcement will fit into the envelop. Glue the bow to the front of the card. 4. Cut a length of ribbon or cord about 30" in length. Glue this around the front of the card as a border, mitering the corners for a neat look. 5. Write a sincere and creative message on the inside of the announcement. Info to include: Date of birth and time of birth of each baby Weights Lengths Parents' names Babies' names Babies' genders (some names like "Taylor" are unisex) 6. Glue the babies' pictures under the message and optionally surround it with a border of ribbon or cord. Now, wasn't that simple? In just a few minutes, you'll have created beautiful birth announcements with a decidedly personal touch to share with family and friends. |
